Rob serves as Shaker Financial Services’ Chief Investment Strategist and Partner. He is responsible for overseeing strategy development, trading, and portfolio allocations. He speaks regularly at industry events about closed-end funds and the concept of tactical swapping. In addition to his responsibilities within portfolio management and business development, Robert serves as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer, where he is responsible for maintaining firm-wide SEC and GIPS compliance. Robert joined Shaker Financial in 2004 after serving as Economic Advisor to the US Embassy in Costa Rica. He graduated from Haverford College with a BA in Economics and earned his Juris Doctor from Emory University School of Law.
Kathy Shaker Baummer
Performance Analytics and Reporting, Account Director, Managing Partner
Kathy joined Shaker Financial Services in 2004. Kathy assists with developing, implementing and maintaining proprietary algorithms to ensure that trade allocations are fair, utilize appropriate diversification and that there is consistent portfolio turnover across accounts. Kathy is responsible for data operations, accurate performance reporting and the general overseeing of client accounts. As Managing Partner, she is responsible for day-to-day business and financial operations. Prior to joining Shaker Financial, Kathy designed circuits for AAI Corporation, developed engineering software for Booz Allen Hamilton and ran her own direct marketing company. She earned her BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and both her MS in Electrical Engineering, and her Engineering Degree in Communications Theory from George Washington University.
Dan Gordon has been with Shaker Financial Services since 2012. As Portfolio Manager, Dan actively monitors the closed-end fund universe, which allows him to develop and implement opportunistic trading strategies for the firm. Prior to this, Dan spent 13 years as an options market maker on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, where he specialized in equity and index options. He graduated from Haverford College with a BA in Economics.
Director of Software Engineering
Dan Baummer joined Shaker Financial Services in January 2012. His responsibilities include design, implementation and maintenance of Shaker Financial’s proprietary software trading and allocation algorithms. Dan has over 35 years of experience developing custom software for various industries for companies such as Becton Dickinson, Texas Instruments and G.E. Dan earned his BS in Applied Mathematics from Towson State University.
Client Relations Manager
Kelly joined Shaker Financial Services in April 2013. As Client Relations Manager, Kelly serves as liaison between portfolio managers and our clients. Her responsibilities include account opening, money and asset transfers and distributions, beneficiary review, and database maintenance. Kelly has over 25 years of U.S. and International experience in the fee-based marketing and loyalty industry. As a Project Manager for a small entrepreneurial company, her million-member credit protection program earned the “Best-in-Class” Service Award from American Express. Kelly earned her degree in Business Administration from Fleet Business School.
